Superb hilt of Australia ashes series level could lead to a record crowd of the world on the day of the opening of the examination CWM boxing day.
Record stands at 90,800 - two day test between the Australia and the Caribbean at the CWM in 1961 - but which could be broken in anticipation grows ahead of what will be the most hotly contested test in Melbourne for decades.
Four years earlier, with Australia 3 - 0 up and series, the crowd day against England at the CWM was 89,155.

"We knew that day would be very strong, ticket sales reported... a crowd of over 80 000", he said. " But we will do now everything in our power to ensure all available seats are taken. I think that the top of the 1980s, perhaps even 90 000, will certainly be a chance.
["Weather] is also quite promising, so all tees with a great opportunity. I look forward now that next week, the interest will increase still further and be on foot at the time where we Bowl the first ball. »
Dodemaide believes that Australia drags in the series after two attempts to series-upgrade yesterday in Perth could be bigger boost for CWM crowds than if the Australia was on top of early - and much more was England went to Melbourne with an insurmountable lead 2-0.
"We all hope - really - expected that the Australia would fight back hard and this is what they [players] did," he said. "The next opportunity is something which is now anchored, arise on the occasion of the event.
"The success of the correspondence is so increased when context. Though the series had have disappeared, not having been able to win the ashes, then it would have affected the appeal of the match in total, apart from the first day of the Australia.
"Australia will now with momentum, I think that it will create lots of buzz. We will certainly arrive [English] visitors to come along but supporters, locally, walk ups and members will think meet and really want to support the team return to adversity and showing lots of spirit.
"What we see in Melbourne is generally very strong crowd day and then essentially the crowd dropping as... the trend of the game becomes established, tending to move in a quarter or a third person every day.
"But I think that might change this time." I am sure that the game takes hold, in particular, our second and third days, will be very strong. »
Strongly dependent on the sale of tickets for international matches, particularly test matches in the lull of interest for a day of games, Cricket Victoria Dodemaide gains agreed that there is a spring in his step and his colleagues this week.
"It's great to be involved in this industry and the period of the year", he said. "With the Australian fighting back so strong, I am sure that everyone is going to walk a little taller. »
